- Remember my good friend Insomnia? Well guess who decided to pay me a little visit this week? That post was written almost exactly a year ago and I hadn't ran in 6 days, fast forward to now and it's been 5 days since my last run... I see a trend here. All xtraining + no running = one very distraught, over anxious, insomnia ridden Redhead. 2 more days... I can do this! My body needed this self induced running sabbatical, it WILL thank me for it.... or at least that's what I keep telling myself.
- Besides needing to run and sleep I also need structure. I need an excel spreadsheet that tells me what to do every day that I can shade colorfully when I complete a workout. Thank goodness Coach EK has sent me over my next training plan, which starts Monday, to attempt a PR race at the B.A.A. 5k! Do you hear that? That is angels singing Hallelujah... either that or its Beaker Luv because I know she's probably fed up with my non-running/non-sleeping/uber-case-of-the-Lonelies-because-I-have-too-much-time-on-my-hands whining!!!
- Weekend O' Festivities: Tomorrow I am heading over to B.o.B's to have a girl's night out! YAY!!! This will be my first non-running related trip over to B.o.B's ever! Can you believe it? Saturday I head back and will be ending my Week O' Xtraining with a Bikram Yoga class with The Brunette... not going to lie, I'm a little nervous about that one. *Fingers Crossed* After Bikram I'm headed over to Beaker Luv's for some quality and adult beverages on the porch. I'm in serious need of all this girl time and I can't friggin' wait!

Alright that's it for me, stay tuned for a Week O' Xtraining Recap sometime this weekend and next week we're back to business as usual around here... which means RUNNING!!!

xtraining sucks! I don't have enough discipline as you to just shut down the running and cross train. I know I need to but I'd just always rather run.

Ohhh, my 3 things are:
1. I've ready to run again, but, my brain is not. Is that weird? Haven't run since Saturday and I'm not having it--but my brain is too tired to even think about running. Sad times. Goal? Run tomorrow before work (puke).
2. I get to be a running nerd this weekend in Atlanta and will jabber to people for hours about signing up for our races damnit! Oh, and, I'll be spectating the Georgia Marathon. Never done that before.
3. And, finally? MARATHON MANIAC!!! #2336. Heck yes.
Eeek! So excited for Boston! Eek!
I always sleep better when I run. Be strong though. You can handle two more days! Good luck training for that 5K PR ... You'll rock it!

Oh man, I can totally relate! Only for me, on my one rest day during the week I have issues with sleeping! I guess I have too much energy that needs to be released each day and running is it's only cure!

I can't even imagine how you feel! i am tapering somewhat this week for my 1/2 on sunday and not running/running less is driving me crazy! good luck with the yoga! sounds like the weekend will be fun and then yay another training plan :) hopefully your insomnia will be scared away by your new training plan :) what do you want to run the 5K in?

Love me some Bikram, although it can be a very humbling experience, I can go from 1 amazing class where I can do every pose to barely being able to stand b/c of the heat!

Finished my first 5K race last night, and have a half marathon on Saturday morning. Hooray!!!
Um... yeah you training to race the BAA 5K means that you'll be waiting at least 15 minutes for me at the finish line. GEEZ.
Also, I thought I'd want to give myself time off post-marathon, but I've ended up running pretty much consistently. Did 6 miles yesterday in SIXTY DEGREE WEATHER. Glorious. Like you--I need to run. And I need a plan. ASAP.
The time change is terrible for my sleep schedule. Perhaps that's the culprit.

i get insomnia right around TOM consistently, very annoying. I am going back to KC this weekend and it's packed with friends and I am sooooo excited
Wow. So, you need to totally exhaust yourself with running to be able to sleep!? You must be one of those people who only requires like 4 hrs of sleep. Just think of all of the things you could get done now when you are not 'wasting' time with sleep!
Sorry to hear about the insomnia. I'm just not right if I don't get my sleep, so I can't even imagine! Hope you get back to running soon and back to sleeping!

again, i don't know what xt-ing is. i mean what do you do for that? walk? yoga? i don't think i burn calories doing either of those. (my favorite is when you see the people out for a walk while sipping on their large coke!)

wow running sabbaticals are so hard. I'm pretty new and haven't taken a voluntary one but even involuntary ones from injuries are frustrating. I'm dreading the time when I'll actually have to take a break on my own!

I used to have REALLY bad insomnia in college. Since I've started running, I'm pretty much a-ok. Sometimes you just have to exhaust your brain so it let's you sleep. :)
Crazy that you get insomnia when you don't run. I get nightmares! Truly! I think it stems from unresolved stress. Running = happy rest!
Insomnia sounds miserable. Hopefully you find some relief.
