Showering of the Bride

As I mentioned last week, Sunday was my first of two bridal showers; this being the Redhead family and friends one. You know how sometimes bridal showers can be a real snoozefest and/or terribly awkward? Well, let me tell you, my cousin and MOH/best friend threw, probably the best shower I've ever been too! (And I'm not just saying that because it was mine!)

The hostess with the mostest, my beloved Beaker Luv
The other hostess with the mostest, my cuz Michelle
(Mental Note: Take a group pic at next shower. I have 5,000 pics of just me or me with a guest and that's it. Sorry for all the "me" pics!)
They chose the Ceramic Studio, one of those places where you paint pottery, to have it at; after hilarious introductions where everyone told how they knew/were related to me, everyone was encouraged to pick a piece of pottery (but it wasn't required) and then we all set to work creating our masterpieces while nibbling on appetizers. It was the perfect thing to cut out the awkwardness that comes with bringing a large group of people together that don't really know each other, and it opened up opportunities for everyone to interact more as we shared paint and ideas. The studio allowed them to bring their own food/drinks so Beaker Luv ordered my favorite cupcakes from the Sugar Shack!
Hooray for cupcakes!!!
I chose to paint a ring holder in our wedding colors, knowing it'd be something I'd use and would remind me of the day; I also knew it wouldn't take me long to paint so I could get to opening up presents while everyone was still hard at work and distracted! (I was a sweaty nervous mess being front and center as I opened our gifts!) We received a lot of stuff off our registry and a few things that weren't, my favorite being a personalized frame that Beaker Luv had made.

Very excited for new towels!
Behold, everyone's works of art!
Everyone raved at the end about how much fun they had and what a great idea it was to have the shower there, Beaker Luv gets all the credit for such a great idea. I'm definitely keeping this idea up my sleeve for future events. Just as we were wrapping things up Spike made an appearance to thank everyone for coming, for the gifts, and to help clean up. He's a keeper.

Can't wait to marry this man!
With this first bridal shower under my belt I'm feeling less nervous about the next one with Spike's family next month; I'll just need to remember to wear a longer dress so that way I don't flash everyone my undies again while I'm unwrapping gifts! LOL!

Married / Engaged gals - What were your favorite and / or embarrassing moments from your shower? Were you nervous to be the center of attention?

I HATED showers just for the fact that I was front and center! They should really rethink that, LOL!

Love the pottery idea! My shower was before you were born (not really but seems that way) and I hated having to smile for so long! So many pictures of me with stuff!

Your outfit is adorable. Love the matching headband/flowers. My favorite bridal shower included brunch, mimosas and seeing all the fun nighties she received. We then proceeded to head to a pole dancing class, which had a lot of us laughing. I also like the intros about how everyone knows the bride. Helps to give context so that others get the connections and possibly mingle more with each other.

Your shower looks like so much fun! I love painting pottery.
My shower was a couples shower at a bar (on a Sunday afternoon so it wasn't too busy). I very thankful because I don't like being the center of attention for too long. Joey helped open the gifts with me so I didn't feel like I was completely put on the spot.

Love the idea! I agree with you that most showers are awkward and a total snooze fest. I had mine about a month ago in an extra room at a bar. We had sangrias and some appetizers and very interactive games so it was very entertaining.

I will admit to having 2 pints of beer before donning myself as the center of attention :)

Aww looks like so much fun! I'm glad it was such a success and what a guy for coming to help out at the end :) I hope wedding planning is going really well for you and not too stressful. The big day is SO SO SO worth any and all stress you may have along the way :)

I hate shower games and my sister was warned beforehand to not play any, but she did. She created a game show where T and I had to answer questions about each other. While the game show was creative (she even had buzzers and a scoreboard), we both hated being the center of attention.

what a fun idea for a shower!

i definitely hated a lot of the wedding stuff. i did NOT want to be the center of attention! in the end, it never was all that bad or awkward. (i avoided a lingerie shower, haha) i wish i hadn't been so worried about being the center of attention and just soaked it up more. it was a fun few months (and day, of course)!
